So the boys and I are walking in a costume pet parade this Saturday. I just finished making the costumes tonight. Here's a picture for a hint. Anyone think they can guess what we're going as?

Making Strides for Breast Cancer

Tomorrow, Waldo and I will be continuing a family tradition of walking in our local Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk. For those of you who don't know, both my grandmother and my mother have battled breast cancer. My mamaw survived the disease, and passed away in January from a non-breast cancer related illness, and my mom is battling her 4th round of the disease.

Making Strides is a walk that benefits the American Cancer Society. My family and I have walked for the last 4 years or so. Last year, I took Gus with me. This year, however, I'm going to take Waldo. Nick is going to be helping a friend out at a farm, so Gus will be going with him. It's only supposed to be 40 degrees tomorrow morning, though, so I thought I'd make Waldo a t-shirt to "advertise" why we're walking, and to help Waldo keep warm. I also made some bandannas to wear for both he and I. Here are the final products:

I've heard a "rumor" that there aren't supposed to be dogs, but I'm ignoring the rule. No one ever said that last year, there were a bunch of dogs, and Gus is WAY more hyper, so I think we'll be okay.

Bad Dogs!

Nick and I are in the market for some fence. It doesn't have to be fancy. It doesn't have to be new. It actually only needs 2 requirements:
  1. It needs to be sturdy enough to last through the winter.
  2. It needs to be TALL. 6' or more would be preferable.
Why are we in the market for a fence all of a sudden? Well, because of this...

If you aren't able to see the pictures clearly, it is our two dogs, being led back INTO our yard by two very nice neighbor ladies. Gus learned this "neat" little trick from Gunner--if you push onto our crappy yet semi-functional fence just enough, it will fold down and allow easy access out of the backyard. Gus has since taught this "neat" little trick to Waldo, who doesn't need to know how easy it is to get out of the yard! Gus is pretty smart, and has found his way back to our porch on more than one occasion. Waldo, however, is not the brightest bulb in the pack, and probably wouldn't have any idea how to get back. In fact, if Gus hadn't been with him today, he probably would have run away from the neighbors because he's so skittish.

Anyone have any fence options?

Waldo Loves His New Bed!

My friend Paula gave Waldo a new bed! She had bought it for her lab, Bentley, but even after attempting to trick him into using it, the bed was most often used by her daughter Maci. :) She decided that a DOG might want to use the dog bed, and so she passed it on to us.

THANK YOU!! Waldo loves his bed. In fact, Gus loves Waldo's bed, too. They often snuggle up on it together. :)
