Christmas Day in Indiana

We went to Indiana on Christmas Day to see daddee's mommee. She was sooo surprised to see us!

We also had a good time in the SNOW! We've had a few flakies at our house in Ohio, but not as much as they got in Indiana! WHEE!!

We also had a good time meeting this alien creature. We had never seen anything like him before! His name was Bill, apparently:

Christmas is....Fun??

Gus is very interested in the gifts....

This is as close as Waldo would get.  Turns out, he's afraid of boxes and wrapping paper!  He spent the whole night in the other room, away from the scariness.

Gus enjoys the gifts, though!

Waldo got a Waldo!  Here they are, posing together...

Run Free, Chloe Amelia

Today, Chloe Amelia crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She has been in mommee's family for 13 1/2 years. She was at the doggee daycare and got stomach bloat. Mommee's mommee was able to be there to hold her paw as she took her last breaths here on earth. She's now able to run free again, sniffing the grass with her little stubby tail wagging as fast as she can wag it. Mommee's sister Ashley (shown here in the photo) bought Chloe by saving her lunch money every day for a year. She took it to the breeder in a Tootsie Roll container.

We'd appreciate pawsitive thoughts for mommee and nana today.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Great Gift Idea!

A few months ago, I was contacted by a publishing house to review a couple of new books that they had coming out by the end of the year. I'm excited to say that I received them, and they are so great!

Here are some descriptions from

"In Dog Lover's Daily Companion Wendy Nan Rees shares her invaluable knowledge gleaned from 25+ years in the pet industry. She has created a unique, irreplaceable, easy-to-use—and inspiring—handbook filled with 365 helpful tips, easy-to-build projects, practical advice, and insight into the canine-human relationship for all dog owners to use every day of the year. This book will provide you with a lifetime’s worth of practical tips for living with your dog, no matter the breed. Wendy brings her expertise—and genuine love for dogs—to every topic under the sun needed to raise a healthy puppy into a happy adult dog."

"Cat Lover’s Devotional is a unique, easy-to-use, and inspiring handbook filled with a year’s worth of insight, helpful tips, and practical advice into the feline-human relationship for all cat lovers and owners. Whether you’re a cat owner yourself or someone who just loves all things cat, this book will provide you with a lifetime’s worth of ways to enjoy and appreciate cats, whether or not you have a house full of cats, or just a shelf full of books. The format of the book—a year-long, day-minder-type book—is not meant to be read cover to cover; rather, the book can fall open on any given day and still serve its designated purpose. Cat Lover’s Devotional will be completely indexed so readers in search of specific content, not just dabbling, will be able to navigate it."

The pictures are beautiful, and the text is easy-to-read. A great daily dose of dog and cat info for the pet-lovers in your life.

I'd like to offer these books to someone as a special holiday gift. To enter the drawing, just post a comment on this post, saying if you would like the DOG LOVER'S book or the CAT LOVER'S book. I'll put the comments into a drawing, which I will draw on December 11th! Feel free to share this drawing with friends--if you post on your blog and let me know, I'll put another entry in for you!

Gus and Waldo are in LOOOOOVE! (take 2)

Sorry about the last post. I embedded the video from Facebook, so it must not appear unless you have Facebook, or are friends with me. Anyways, trying again!

Actually, they love the Bichon Frise. They were doing this and I stopped the video to get my camera. We came back, and the Chow Chow was on. They weren't interested! So, I rewound the video to the Bichon, and look what they did. :) Who knew that Waldo and Gus were into high-maintenance frilly dogs? After all, notice what they do when the Chow Chow comes back on!

Recent Dog Shoots...

A Nap, Please?

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out..

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks.

Curious I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:
'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 -he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'

Rainy Day Activities

Honey recently made a post about her rainy day activities. Since it's been pretty rainy and cold here, we decided to do the same!

Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade

It was a rainy, cold day at the Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade. A stark contrast from last year, when the weather was so beautiful. I took the dogs out in the morning, to run around the park for an hour, but they still seemed to have copious amounts of energy left, and they pulled me most of the way around the mall. Everyone seemed to enjoy the costumes, though some were confused as to what they were (I guess you can't tell what we are from the front, only from the side). The judges weren't confused, though....we got 2nd place!

A little disappointed that we weren't first, but the video gamers were well represented--Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi took 1st place overall. They were cute. Waldo and Gus were DEFINITELY the biggest pair there. There are sooooo many little dogs in our area, and it just makes Waldo and Gus seem that much bigger.

Here's hoping for better weather next year!

Happy Howl-O-Ween!

Thanks, everyone, for all of your Howl-o-ween guesses! We cannot believe it, but no one was able to guess! Mommee posted an easier picture last year, we figure.

We has to post 3 pictures, one of each of us, because it is nearly impossible for mommee to take care of the flashy-thing, and post a picture of all of us together, especially since our costumes will involve our leashes, and whenever our leashes come out, we go all nuts-o. Anyways, the little balls mommee will attach to our leashes, so it looks like she's after us.

Here we are!!

We are in a costume contest tomorrow--wish us luck!!

Wordless Wednesday, (prep-for-Halloween edition)

Any guesses?

Also, on a different note, here are our entries for Dora's Smiley Contest:

Gus is smiling because he knows how much smarter he is than his dopey big brother:

Waldo is smiling because he knows that even though his brother is smarter, he can reach the countertops to grab food:

Walking for Nana

Every year, mommee walks in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk here in our hometown. It is to honor those who have battled breast cancer. Some of you may know that our Nana (mommee's mommee) and Mamaw (mommee's grandma) both had breast cancer. In fact, Nana is still fighting it today. Mamaw passed away in 2008, but we always think of her on days like this.

Last year and this year, Waldo came and walked with mommee. Last year, Waldo wore a shirt, but this year we couldn't fit it on him! So, we just wore our pink bandannas together.

Please, if you are a lady, and you are reading this blog, take some time to do a self-check every month for anything unusual. If you are over 40 (or over 30 if you're at-risk), go get a mammogram every year! It is important all the time, but especially in October as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Run Free, Mr. Darcy

Our sweet Dane friend Mr. Darcy crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. We will miss him--he was such a sweet big boy. Please go and leave his mom and dad a message--they have already been on an emotional roller-coaster, and I'm sure they would love encouragement from you.

Edited to add:

We have been so busy lately, we didn't realize until today that a couple of our other bloggie friends have also crossed the Bridge. We also want to give sniffs to Angie, who had to say goodbye to her sweet Ruby yesterday:

And our friend Max, who was one of our first online blog buddies. We know that Sasha will miss you, but we are so glad that you are able to run on those paws again!

Post 173

Whew, mommee has been busy. She says thank you for all of the compliments on our pictures! They are from AlleyKat Photography, which is a branch of Allison Laura Photography. Yup--that's mommee's new business! She's been getting her classroom ready, but has also had a lot of business photographing different hoomans and their little'uns. This weekend she's shooting her first wedding!!

But this bloggie is about US! And we'd like to share with you about a SUPER FUN DAY that we had with mommee and daddee last week! Splash Moraine is a local people pool that allows hoomans AND dogs to share the water 2 times a year. Mommee said the water was "nasty" by the end of the night, but we didn't notice 'cuz of all the FUN!

Here's a video that mommee made about our day:

Here's a pic to show that Gus jumped in, too--right by the "No Diving" sign. Can you see the baby Waldo lookalike in the background?
This is our friend Roxy. She liked swimming, just like us!
