Walking for Nana

Every year, mommee walks in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk here in our hometown. It is to honor those who have battled breast cancer. Some of you may know that our Nana (mommee's mommee) and Mamaw (mommee's grandma) both had breast cancer. In fact, Nana is still fighting it today. Mamaw passed away in 2008, but we always think of her on days like this.

Last year and this year, Waldo came and walked with mommee. Last year, Waldo wore a shirt, but this year we couldn't fit it on him! So, we just wore our pink bandannas together.

Please, if you are a lady, and you are reading this blog, take some time to do a self-check every month for anything unusual. If you are over 40 (or over 30 if you're at-risk), go get a mammogram every year! It is important all the time, but especially in October as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

You look gorgeous with that pink bandana, Waldo - really goes with your coat!

Hey - my human and I also did something for October Breast Cancer Awareness Month - although we were dancing, not walking! (It's my post called "Slippery Dancing Disaster") - although I had a bit of a nightmare but it was all for a good cause! :-)
